Isanti County Crappie Hot Spot

Crappies are in the 11-13 inch range on this small western Isanti county lake. South Stanchfield is located 7 miles east of Princeton on MN hwy 95 then north on Co 15 4 miles. Landing is shallow so a small boat or a roller trailer works best.
This lake has a history of severe winterkill but is on a peak year. If you go 1/4 mile south of the public landing you will find some troughs running east to west that hold some decent fish. A 38 inch northern was taken there recently so be ready.
Its a long lake with a west protected shore by a high bank so west winds are not to bad.
Bring small minnows or worms. Worked for me anyway.
